Charges laid, social media racist attacks by SAPS and SANDF members

The civil rights organisation AfriForum today 18 June 2018, submitted criminal charges against two police officials and a former member of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) after they used social media to incite farm attacks and/or romanticise violence against farmers and minorities.
AfriForum says that these incidents can be considered a form of complicity by the South African government and that it urgently needs to be tackled by the police to ensure that those responsible are prosecuted.

The slaughter continues. Since I spoke with you about this in June, another 67 White farmers or members of White farm families have been murdered in South Africa. Many of the murders have been accompanied by torture, rape, and mutilation. Altogether nearly six hundred White farmers have been murdered by Blacks in South Africa since the Whites agreed in 1993 to let the Blacks run the country. That’s one per cent of South Africa’s 58,000 White farmers.

In this we pointed out that Vicki Momberg was sentenced to an effective 2 years in prison for a racist statement, while a serving officer in the Defense Force, Major MV Mohlala of the Wonderboom military base, got away with only a warning after writing on Facebook that an elderly white man, the reverend Braam van Wyk, should not only have been attacked, but that his eyes should also have been poked out.
