Motoriste moes eers vir ure wag voordat hulle die bekende Van Reenen pas kon deurry vanaf die Tugela Plaza weens ’n geweldige krisis in die pas.
’n Brand het weens ’n tegniese fout ontstaan wat die tenkwa in ligte laaie gelaat het, maar wat ook versprei het na die aanhaak tenk wat saamgesleep was en met diesel brandstof gevul was.
Die gevaar van reuse ontploffings het veroorsaak dat geen voertuig die toneel kon verbysteek nie, en was geduldige wag tot alles bedaar het ’n vereiste vir almal.
Maandag het dit die skoonmaakproses ure lank geneem om op te ruim, en motoriste is aangeraai om van ’n alternatiewe roete gebruik te maak wat baie kilometers ompad beteken.
Later is een rybaan in beide rigtings van die N3 vir verkeer oopgestel, maar dit het nog lank geduur voordat die verkeersvloei na normaal teruggekeer het.
