WATCH: Fight breaks out over minimum wage in South-African Parliament
A fight broke out in parliament on Wednesday during a Labour Portfolio Committee meeting to discuss‚ in detail‚ the National Minimum Wage Bill.

State official went on a luxurious spending spree with taxpayer’s money
A senior government official is being investigated for allegedly splashing thousands of rands of taxpayer’s money on a car for his girlfriend and furniture for her house during a two-year spending spree.
Between 2014 and 2016, July Maphosa, a director at the sustainable livelihoods programme of the Gauteng department of social development, which is meant to support needy families, also allegedly instructed a service provider to transfer funds to buy a luxurious car for a friend.

Cope leader Mosiuoa Lekota has remained defiant about his views on land and says expropriation of land without compensation will take the country “back to war”.

The Parliamentary committee to use Hawks to track down Gupta’s and Zuma Jnr.
Parliament’s committee on public enterprises will reach out to the Hawks to help track down the Gupta brothers so that they can be issued a summons to appear before the Eskom inquiry.
Chair of the inquiry Zukiswa Rantho told Fin24 by phone on Tuesday that the brothers Ajay, Atul and Rajesh were to appear before the committee along with former SAA board chair Dudu Myeni and Gupta business associate Duduzani Zuma on Wednesday.

Cyril Ramaphosa was immediately hailed as a breath of fresh air after the decade-long Jacob Zuma debacle. The nation forgot, or ignored, his role in Marikana while his prowess as a businessman was lauded. A sensible, urbane politician who would save the economy.
His recent Cabinet reshuffle, however, reveals much of the same. The executive remains bloated and, with cronies retaining influence, his reputation for clean governance is shaken. The national conversation, however, has swung to expropriation without compensation.

The ANC unity cracks over land issue
The ANC remains divided about its resolution to expropriate land without compensation, despite the historic vote in Parliament this week to start the process to amend the Constitution.

Parliament’s portfolio committee on mineral resources has called on the mineral resources department to intervene at Gupta-owned Optimum coal mine in Mpumalanga.
Chairperson of the committee Sahlulele Luzipo said the department should gain some certainty on the future of the mine.
“It should also assist in ensuring that workers are paid,” Luzipo said.

Congress of the People leader Mosiuoa Lekota has asked President Cyril Ramaphosa and Parliament who will decide who gets the land, if they go ahead with plans for land expropriation without compensation.
Ramaphosa told Parliament, during his maiden State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Friday, that the ANC will go ahead with plans to amend the Constitution to allow expropriation without compensation.
