Another VAT payout from SARS to Guptas worth R89-million
The South African Revenue Service has for the second time allowed a multi-million-rand VAT repayment claimed by a Gupta-owned business to be paid to a third party, court documents show.
Times Select has learned that, on April 11, SARS made a payment of R89-million, meant for Optimum Coal Mine, to a third party, a company named In House Wages.

Parliament’s portfolio committee on mineral resources has called on the mineral resources department to intervene at Gupta-owned Optimum coal mine in Mpumalanga.
Chairperson of the committee Sahlulele Luzipo said the department should gain some certainty on the future of the mine.
“It should also assist in ensuring that workers are paid,” Luzipo said.

Optimum Coal Mine workers have not been paid this month
JOHANNESBURG – Optimum Coal Mine workers said that they do not know how they are going to get by this weekend after their employer failed to pay them yesterday.
For the past two days, the employees have been demonstrating outside the mine in Mpumalanga demanding for their salaries to be paid.
