Cape Town DA in Internal Chaos - De Lille survives motion of no confidence

On Thursday the DA failed to unseat its corrupt Mayor Patricia De Lille, who had been ordered to vacate her post by party leader Mmusi Maimane. The ACDP abstained from this critical vote as well, further strengthening De Lille.

These events signal the collapse of order and authority within the DA – Led City Council and raises questions over the real authority of Mmusi Maimane. His failure to wield real authority within the DA has led to a continuation of Patricia De Lille’s disastrous tenure as Mayor.

Zuma recall not worth paper it’s written on, says DA

Cape Town – The letter of recall delivered to President Jacob Zuma by the African National Congress (ANC), the party which deployed him to his post as head of State, is not worth the paper it’s written on, the country’s biggest opposition party said on Tuesday.

“This recall is an internal ANC resolution, and nothing more. It has no effect on Jacob Zuma’s current status as President of the Republic, and can be simply ignored by Zuma. Unless he [Zuma] tenders his resignation, this recall is not worth the paper it is printed on,” said Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane in a statement shortly after the ANC announced its decision to recall Zuma.

Eikenhof Dam in Grabouw, South Africa, started releasing its water to the City of Cape Town at 11 am this morning, according to Elgin resident Cathy Shaw. Shaw uploaded the following video, saying: “This is what 10 000 cubic litres per hour looks like!”
The Groenland Water Users Association in the Overberg is releasing between eight and ten million cubic metres of water – which is about a billion litres of water – into the Western Cape supply network.

They stepped aside politely. Seconds later the 57-year-old pilot had been stabbed. Julia was fighting for her life.
