The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has rejected President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Cabinet reshuffle, saying it was a realignment of corrupt and “delinquent” ministers.

Cape Town – On Tuesday, the National Assembly will decide whether to proceed with a process to amend the Constitution to make expropriation of land without compensation possible, as the EFF’s motion in this regard is expected to be debated.
The draft resolution, brought by Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema, states that “South Africa has a unique history of brutal dispossession of land from black people by the settler colonial white minority” and continues that this has left an “indelible mark on social, political and economic landscape of the country, and has helped create a society based on exploitation of black people and sustenance of white domination”.

President Cyril Ramaphosa may have reduced foreign affairs to five sentences in his State of the Nation Address (SONA), but make no mistake, that is not an indication of the level of priority he attaches to international relations. It is through South Africa’s foreign relations that he will seek to achieve his domestic priorities.
The SONA was a clear articulation of those priorities – improving economic growth, which has been hovering around 1%, by increasing business confidence, wooing investors and expanding trade, which will translate into job creation and poverty reduction. These objectives cannot be achieved without a robust foreign policy that focuses on economic diplomacy.

Minister of Science and Technology Naledi Pandor has welcomed the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Tuesday to subject ministers and their deputies, including other senior government officials, to lifestyle audits to curb corruption in the public sector.
Pandor, who has been calling for lifestyle audits for some time now, said former president Jacob Zuma and his leadership collective in the ANC had failed to execute the governing party’s commitment in 2016 to implement lifestyle audits on its leaders.

Cape Town – The Public Protector has found that Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown misled the National Assembly when she denied there were engagements between power utility Eskom and the Gupta-linked company Trillian Capital Partners.
