The Parliamentary committee to use Hawks to track down Gupta’s and Zuma Jnr.
Parliament’s committee on public enterprises will reach out to the Hawks to help track down the Gupta brothers so that they can be issued a summons to appear before the Eskom inquiry.
Chair of the inquiry Zukiswa Rantho told Fin24 by phone on Tuesday that the brothers Ajay, Atul and Rajesh were to appear before the committee along with former SAA board chair Dudu Myeni and Gupta business associate Duduzani Zuma on Wednesday.

The Hawks and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) have begun a probe into the circumstances around the death in 1967 of ANC leader Albert Luthuli.
Luthuli, who had been banned from addressing public gatherings and placed under house arrest by the apartheid regime, died after being hit by a train near his home in Groutville, near KwaDukuza on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, on July 21 1967.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) will apply to have the suspects in state capture investigations extradited‚ said National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Shaun Abrahams on Wednesday.
Abrahams was addressing parliament’s portfolio committees on justice and police in a combined sitting‚ along with Hawks head Lieutenant-General Yolisa Matakata.

Atul Gupta registered to vote in Saxonwold – IEC
Johannesburg – The IEC has confirmed that Atul Gupta is, indeed, registered to vote at Saxonwold Primary School.
IEC deputy chairperson Terry Tselane said at a media briefing on Wednesday that the IEC was asked to check the registration details of an ID number, which proves that Atul is indeed a South African citizen.

Shaun Abrahams sets deadline to communicate Zuma decision
Cape Town – The National Director of Public Prosecutions will confirm his decision relating to the corruption charges against Jacob Zuma to the lawyers of the former president and the affected parties by March 15, the National Prosecuting Authority said on Monday.
Spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku said the State attorney’s office has written to the Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution (Casac) confirming Shaun Abrahams had reached a decision and would be communicating this by the cut-off date, less than three weeks away.

Cops Shoot And Kill 7 Suspects, Arrest Further 10 Linked To Ngcobo Police Station Killings
Police in Ngcobo in the Eastern Cape have shot and killed seven suspects during a shootout linked to the murder of five cops and a former soldier. The Hawks say more than 10 other suspects have been arrested while others escaped.
A task team investigating the murders made the breakthrough last night.

Hawks confirmed Ajay Gupta’s arrest warrant not linked to Estina Dairy
PRETORIA – The Hawks have confirmed that a warrant of arrest has been issued for Ajay Gupta but it’s not related to the Estina Dairy Farminvestigation.
The unit’s acting head Yolisa Matakata clarified this aspect related to the case which saw eight suspects appear in court in Bloemfontein a week ago.

NPA opposes Atul Gupta’s AFU challenge
Johannesburg – The National Prosecuting Authority’s Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) has filed opposing papers in a court application Atul Gupta has lodged to have a preservation order against him set aside.
In an answering affidavit, which was filed in the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein on Wednesday, prosecuting authorities set out precisely why they say that R10m in Gupta’s personal bank account constituted the proceeds of corruption, fraud and money laundering.
