Guess who’s back? Nhlanhla Nene has returned to the hot seat as South Africa’s Finance Minister, just two years and two months after he was unceremoniously dumped by Jacob Zuma.
President Jacob Zuma issued a statement removing Nene from his post in December 2015, but the presidential address did not clearly outline the reasons behind Nene’s dismissal. He replaces Malusi Gigaba, who has moved on to Home Affairs.

Selection of Deputy President looms over weekend ANC NEC meeting
Johannesburg – The African National Congress is expected to try to refocus the party on organisational matters in a two-day National Executive Committee meeting this weekend, amidst heavy speculation over a looming Cabinet reshuffle.

Durban – Political interference in the country’s law enforcement agencies is the greatest counter-argument to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s declaration of a “new dawn”, the Economic Freedom Fighters said on Friday.

Naledi Pandor welcomes lifestyle audits will be conducted on Cabinet members
Minister of Science and Technology Naledi Pandor has welcomed the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Tuesday to subject ministers and their deputies, including other senior government officials, to lifestyle audits to curb corruption in the public sector.
Pandor, who has been calling for lifestyle audits for some time now, said former president Jacob Zuma and his leadership collective in the ANC had failed to execute the governing party’s commitment in 2016 to implement lifestyle audits on its leaders.
