85-Year-old man loses R300 000 in sim swap scam that’s on the rise
An 85-year-old pensioner had R300 000 stolen from his Nebdank account last week in a sim swap scam.
The man’s son, who would rather not be named, wrote to CapeTalk host John Maytham to relay the experience.
Forensic investigator Dr David Klatzow says the sim swap scam has become more prevalent over the past three years.

The Parliamentary committee to use Hawks to track down Gupta’s and Zuma Jnr.
Parliament’s committee on public enterprises will reach out to the Hawks to help track down the Gupta brothers so that they can be issued a summons to appear before the Eskom inquiry.
Chair of the inquiry Zukiswa Rantho told Fin24 by phone on Tuesday that the brothers Ajay, Atul and Rajesh were to appear before the committee along with former SAA board chair Dudu Myeni and Gupta business associate Duduzani Zuma on Wednesday.

Company involved in Gupta VAT payout previously involved in Moyane nephew scandal
The company that received the Guptas’ Sars VAT payout is closely connected to a company whose R2.2-billion contract with Sars was cancelled in 2016 because one of its shareholders was now suspended Sars commissioner Tom Moyane’s nephew.
In 2016, Moyane’s nephew Nhlamulo Ndhlela was found to have scored a debt collection contract from Sars worth R220-million.

NPA head Shaun Abrahams set to announce decision on Zuma prosecution
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) boss Shaun Abrahams is expected to make his much-anticipated announcement on Friday afternoon on whether or not former president Jacob Zuma will be facing criminal charges.

SA’s richest woman offers R1.4m reward for Ajay Gupta and Duduzane Zuma
One of the country’s richest women Magda Wierzycka is offering R900 000 of her own money to help authorities track down and arrest Ajay Gupta and Jacob Zuma’s son Duduzane who are understood to be fugitives.
She is topping the R500 000 rewards orginially offered by NGO Forensics for Justice. The organisation said it is offering the money because “These people have almost brought South Africa to its knees, it’s now time to bring them to justice. We are offering R100,000 for information leading to the arrest of each one of them and a bonus of R100,000 if the same informant gives information leading to the arrest of all four of them.”

The Hawks are looking for Zuma jnr. after the raid on the Gupta house in Saxonworld.
Atal Gupta was reportedly caught while trying to flee the country.
