More than 7,700 official complaints have been lodged with the Ombudsman for Banking Services in South Africa, who published their annual report for the 2020 financial year, which contains the most common complaints against banks, as well as bankers, because the relationship between larger customers and the banker is also in the report. 6,472 complaints were received the previous year (2019).

VBS Mutual Bank has been placed under curatorship.
South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Governor Lesetja Kganyago announced this late on Sunday afternoon at a media briefing in Pretoria.
The bank came under the public spotlight in September 2016 after it gave former president Jacob Zuma a loan to repay R7.8-million as ordered by the Constitutional Court for non-security upgrades at his private Nkandla homestead.

Man from Limpopo digs up mother’s body, takes skull to bank

A “grave violation” is under investigation by police in Limpopo – South African Police Service spokesperson Lt-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said on Tuesday that cops in Lebowakgomo outside Polokwane have arrested a man in connection with a grave being dug up at Dithabaneng village in the Ga-Mphahlele area.
Police found a full human skeleton in his house – and that he carried around his mother’s skull when he went to the bank.
