Two schools were set alight in Mpumalanga on Friday, just three days after another school was burned in the North West.

Port St Johns municipal workers end seven-month strike
Municipal workers returned to work in Port St Johns on Monday after an on-off strike which has lasted seven months, leaving the town strewn with garbage.
Municipal workers had been on an intermittent strike since last year, demanding the dismissal of the municipal manager and the implementation of wage promises they say were not kept. According to South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) spokesperson Andile Bara the problems started in 2013 when seven SAMWU shop stewards were fired after a strike over wages.

The nationwide bus strike will enter its sixth day on Monday
Parties failed to reach a wage agreement during a two-day meeting with the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
Workers initially demanded a 12% increase and employers offered 7%. The workers have since rejected an offer of 8% for the first year, and 8.5% in the second year, instead proposing a 9.5% increase in the first year and 9% for the second.
