Land allocated to local communities after land claim is now the focus of a dispute between the owners, the state and the Ingonyama Trust of Zwelithini.

After several lands claim has been granted, the 30 owners of 11,000 hectares of land, worth R3 billion, want to sell it  to the ANC-government for R760 million.

This stems from the fact that “the people” do not seek land, but rather money, and it is seen where prosperous farms disappear as soon as the land is transferred to black beneficiaries.

What makes matters even more interesting is that Zwelithini is now claiming the land as part of land belonging to the Zulu nation since the owners of the land are the Zulus.

Observers say, however, that the 2.8 million hectares in its possession are already enough and he should not receive any land but also point out that it is all part of a power game.

A house in Reservoir Hills is alleged to be used as a training facility for terrorists.

Eleven men have been arrested and accused of planting explosives in the city.

They’re also linked to a murder at the Imam Hussain Shia mosque in May, as well as the kidnapping of a local businessman.

Court papers detail how ISIS flags, propaganda manuals and bomb-making material were apparently discovered inside this house during a raid by the Hawks.

The State alleges this group of men is supportive of ISIS and its teachings about “financial jihad”.

This involves punishment of non-believers by robbing them of their wealth.

Security analyst Jasmine Opperman explained: “There has been infiltration, there have been people vulnerable to their ideology.”

Muslim leaders say, until now, they were not aware of any extremist behaviour in their midst.”

The bail application continues in the Verulam magistrate’s court on Thursday.

It has been noted that men are stealing granite from cemeteries in Tongaat, north of Durban, and reselling them as granite for kitchen tops.

The act has been condemned by MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) in KwaZulu-Natal, Nomusa Dube-Ncube who urged police to arrest those caught desecrating graves.

“We are really disturbed by these reports about people who do not respect grave sites and who are desecrating them by stealing tombstones placed there by relatives to remember their loved one,” she said.

Dube-Ncube said tampering with grave sites is a serious offence that carried a hefty fine and even a prison sentence.

She said the KZN Cemeteries and Crematoria Act requires one to seek permission from the MEC for Local Government to formally exhume a grave site.

The MEC added that her department is the custodian of grave sites in the province and should be consulted if there is a need to formally exhume a grave site.

On 7 October 2018 at 22:50, police received information of a man selling body parts in Margate. The police officers wasted no time and followed up on the information.

Their investigations led them to Marine Drive in Margate where the suspect was spotted seated in a vehicle. The police officers approached the man clad in a traditional outfit and requested to search the vehicle.

During the search they discovered a bucket with a human skull, hand, torso and other body parts that were cut into small pieces. The man confirmed to police that it was indeed human body parts and he informed police that he used these items them to heal people.

The king wants President Ramaphosa to pay him a visit and have it in black and white that rural land is safe.

The Ingonyama Trust owns about 30% of KwaZulu-Natal’s land.

I’m doing it for my people, says Zwelithini as he celebrates his 70th birthday with lavish bash.

Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini is opening up his palaces as tourists attractions, like the Buckingham Palace in London, to raise funds for nine new development projects including a Disney-styled cultural theme park.

The monarch announced the investment project at eNyokeni palace where a lavish birthday celebration attended by hundreds of guests, including Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Zweli Mkhize, ACDP leader Kenneth Meshoe and mining mogul Patrice Motsepe, was held on Friday.

The project is in line with the KwaZulu-Natal government’s plan, mooted more than a decade ago, to use the Zulu monarch as a tourist attraction to raise money to maintain his lavish lifestyle. This did not materialise.

The idea was to promote Zulu royalty and turn the palaces into a tourist paradise where people could have an audience with the king.

Mazibuye African Congress (MAC) is the newest political party on the South Africa scene. The organisation, founded by two former Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) members, has already caused a stir by claiming to be an exclusively black party with a strict anti-white membership policy.

Mazibuye African Congress says whites will not be able to join the political party, while Indians ‘could join the party but would not be able to hold any positions even in the lower structures’.

It’s not been an easy entrance into the political sphere for MAC. Rumours surrounding former president Jacob Zuma joining the group sparked controversy earlier in the month.

While Zuma has denied the allegations, MAC confirms that they met with the ex-president and sought his advice prior to officially forming the political party.

When Bonokuhle Khali died in Nkonjeni District Hospital in Zululand, nurses left his body in a dimly lit corner in the male ward where rats spent hours eating the flesh on his face.

As his body lay just metres from sick patients in the ward, the rodents scurried under and over the sheet that covered it, chewing on his nose and lips.

“When I wanted to see my brother they first handed me a clear bag with rat droppings … that is how they told me my brother had been eaten by rats,” his furious brother Jerome Khali told the Sunday Times.

The body lay in the corridor for several hours on May 22 because no doctor was available to instruct that it be wheeled to the hospital morgue.

“I can’t understand how this could have happened at a hospital – a place that is meant to be so clean,” Jerome said, standing at his brother’s grave at their family homestead in Nhlungwane in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Umkhonto weSizwe veterans were contracted to assassinate former KwaZulu-Natal Hawks boss Johan Booysen after meeting with former president Jacob Zuma, KwaZulu-Natal ANC provincial secretary Super Zuma and ANC interim co-ordinator in KwaZulu-Natal Sihle Zikalala, DA MP Dianne Kohler Barnard alleged in Parliament on Tuesday.

Speaking in the debate on the police’s budget vote, Kohler Barnard said: “Colleagues, if you imagine that finally ridding the SAPS (South African Police Service) of crooked criminal crime intelligence boss Richard Mdluli had magically cut the bars on his own version of state capture lock-up, you would be mistaken.

“Why do you think the NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) has reinstated a charge against general Johan Booysen? A charge that has already been thrown out of court. It’s to keep him from working together with Minister [of Police Bheki] Cele.”

She said Booysen had “the unmitigated gall to lift the grubby NPA sheet and give us a peek”.

The National Freedom Party (NFP) has called on King Goodwill Zwelithini to intervene in political killings and for President Cyril Ramaphosa to declare a state of emergency in Kwazulu Natal.

The NFP was commenting on the murders of ANC former councillor Msawenkosi Mchunu and IFP councillor Sibuyiselo Dlamini

The party is also concerned about the apparent attempted assassination of National Teachers Union deputy president Allen Thompson.

The NFP says KZN Premier Willies Mchunu has failed to respond to its request to ask the King to intervene as a well-respected elder.

It also wants a state of emergency and SANDF soldiers to be deployed.
