Gigaba distances himself from Gupta’s
Embattled Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba on Tuesday distanced himself from business dealings between the Gupta family and state-owned enterprises during the four years he held down the public enterprises portfolio.
Gigaba told the parliamentary inquiry into Eskom that contracts the power utility entered into with Tegeta, Trillian and Regiments did not happen on his watch, therefore “I cannot comment on them”.

Pretoria – The North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Monday dismissed the application of Gupta-linked companies against Bank of Baroda with costs.
Judge Ntendeya Mavundla ruled on an urgent application by 19 Gupta-linked companies to prevent the Bank of Baroda from closing its South African operations

Gigaba denies Ajay Gupta is on the run with SA passport
Parliament – Ajay Gupta, one of three Indian-born brothers at the centre of state capture allegations, is not on the run using a South African passport, Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba said on Tuesday.
Briefing journalists after “putting the matter to rest” before Parliament’s portfolio committee on home affairs regarding the early naturalisation of members of the Gupta family, Gigaba said only Ajay Gupta’s wife, mother and two children were granted citizenship.

Atul Gupta registered to vote in Saxonwold – IEC
Johannesburg – The IEC has confirmed that Atul Gupta is, indeed, registered to vote at Saxonwold Primary School.
IEC deputy chairperson Terry Tselane said at a media briefing on Wednesday that the IEC was asked to check the registration details of an ID number, which proves that Atul is indeed a South African citizen.

Gupta properties raided in India
PRETORIA – It’s being reported that authorities are raiding the properties of the Guptas in India, including their home in Saharanpur.
Indian media is reporting that the raids relate to a fraud investigation against Ajay Gupta, who is considered a fugitive from justice in South Africa.

The Democratic Alliance (DA), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), as well as the Freedom Front Plus (FF plus) are planning to Boycott Premier Ace Magashule’s State of the Province Address (SOPA) tomorrow evening.

ANOTHER GUPTA-OWNED MINE FAILS TO PAY EMPLOYEES
JOHANNESBURG – Yet another Gupta-linked mine has failed to pay the salaries of its employees.
The mine in question is the Koornfontein Coal Mine in Mpumalanga.
This follows the failure of the controversial family’s Optimum Coal Mine to pay its workers their salaries this month which led to mineworkers downing tools since Wednesday.

Parliament’s portfolio committee on mineral resources has called on the mineral resources department to intervene at Gupta-owned Optimum coal mine in Mpumalanga.
Chairperson of the committee Sahlulele Luzipo said the department should gain some certainty on the future of the mine.
“It should also assist in ensuring that workers are paid,” Luzipo said.

Optimum Coal Mine workers have not been paid this month
JOHANNESBURG – Optimum Coal Mine workers said that they do not know how they are going to get by this weekend after their employer failed to pay them yesterday.
For the past two days, the employees have been demonstrating outside the mine in Mpumalanga demanding for their salaries to be paid.
