MAHIKENG – North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo must go, public servants from the provincial health department said on Tuesday.
Hundreds of National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu), the Democratic Nursing Organisation of SA (Denosa) and the Health and Other Services Personnel Trade Union of SA (Hospersa) marched to the provincial legislature demanding that Mahumapelo must resign from his position as a premier within 14 days

JOHANNESBURG – Police have fired rubber bullets after marchers taking part in Nehawu’s North West day of action were confronted by a crowd dressed in African National Congress (ANC) T-shirts outside the legislature in Mahikeng.
Union members are calling for Premier Supra Mahumapelo to step down, while members of the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) are marching in his defence

Mahumapelo welcomes #Hawks raid at office

Rustenburg – North West premier Supra Mahumapelo on Thursday welcomed the raids by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) at his office.
“In all my state of the province addresses since 2014, I have always emphasised the importance of all of us, as directed by our organisation, the ANC, to intensify at all fronts, the campaign against greed, crime and corruption. In this regard, the North West government adopted a monthly Setsokotsane programme focusing on 10 campaigns, which includes this matter,” said Mahumapelo hours after Hawks investigators began the raid

North West health boss Thabo Lekalakala is still in his job‚ despite a recommendation by the provincial legislature that he be suspended immediately for his role in a premature R30-million payment to a Gupta-linked company.

JOHANNESBURG – The North West ANC Youth League (ANCYL) says Premier Supra Mahumapelo should not be involved in an investigation into the misappropriation of funds at the health department.
The department has been plagued by fraud and corruption some of which is related to Gupta linked Mediosa company and its multi million contract.

North West Premier warned not to blur lines about Health Department’s HOD

JOHANNESBURG – North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo has warned the province’s legislature not to blur the lines when instructing his office about the Health Department’s HOD.
The Legislature’s Committee on Health and the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) have asked the health MEC and premier to suspend HOD Thabo Lekalakala following fraud allegations.
