In the “old days” children left school at the age of 18 or 19 years. Some pupils left matric or st.10 at age 17 and went to work or study.
Now the situation is that “pupils” between the ages of 20 and 25 are still sitting at the school desks, and this is confirmed by the Eastern Cape MEC of Education, Mandla Makupula
