Doctors of Malamulele Hospital strike for better working conditions
The doctors at Malamulele Hospital in Limpopo downed their tools on Tuesday in protest for proper working conditions.

8 New Listriosis cases reported in Western Cape
This brings the total to 121 cases in the province since a countrywide outbreak was first reported last year. Twenty-nine people have died in the Cape from the food-borne disease.

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has rubbished the Democratic Alliance’s statement that the source of South Africa’s devastating listeriosis outbreak has yet to be found.

The doors of Limpopo’s Enterprise factory in Polokwane remain shut after the health department confirmed on Sunday that the source of a listeriosis outbreak had been traced back to the facility.
After a two hour meeting on Monday, management told workers that the factory would be closed until further notice.
Consumers who had gathered outside the factory’s shop on the outskirts of the CBD, to return affected products, expressed concern that they would not be refunded after they found a notice stating the premises would stay closed.

Manufacturer of fast-moving consumer goods, Tiger Brands, today refused to take responsibility for the outbreak of food-borne listeriosis in the country, denying any direct links between the deaths of 180 people and its products.
At a press conference in Johannesburg on Monday afternoon, Tiger Brands chief executive Laurence MacDoughall said that consumer safety was of paramount importance to the company, hence it had decided to embark on a voluntary recall of its products as part of corrective steps in response to the health department identifying processed meats as one of the sources of the food-borne virus.
