#ZumaMustGo march to Union Buildings is unlawful, warn police

Pretoria – The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) on Monday warned drivers in and around the central business district to exercise caution in the wake of an “illegal” protest march by a group calling themselves concerned members of the African National Congress (ANC) who are demanding the ouster of President Jacob Zuma.

“Tshwane Metro Police Department received a formal application from allies of the African National Congress for a national march scheduled for Monday. In respect of this march, the TMPD could not approve the march, as certain requirements of the Regulation of Gatherings Act 205 could not be submitted in due time,” spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said

A group of ANC members plan to shutdown to pressure Zuma to quit

TSHWANE – A group of African National Congress members in Gauteng on Sunday announced a “national shutdown” to cripple Pretoria through demonstrations from Monday in a bid to put pressure on President Jacob Zuma to quit.

This is despite the Tshwane Metro police saying they did not approve its request to demonstrate.

Rustenburg was on a knife edge on Friday when protesters shut down Rustenburg, demanding that the Nigerian immigrants should leave

The police used rubber bullets and smoke grenades to disperse a crowd chanting outside the magistrate’s court, this was after they threatened to burn down the court building.

The court was hearing the bail application of 14 Nigerian men accused of public violence, when the threats to torch the court was made. They crowd wanted the court not to grant the men bail but to send them back to Nigeria.

BLF SHUTS DOWN ZONKIZIZWE

The Black Land First movement, in solidarity with the Zonkizizwe community in Ekurhuleni, embarked on a service delivery protest on Monday

“Today we gathered together with the community against service delivery,” the BLF chairperson in Ekurhuleni, Happy Zonke, said.

Besides service delivery issues, Zonkizizwe community members were also protesting for government to provide them with shopping malls, schools, adequate transport systems and land expropriation.
