George police opened a case of rape after a 51-year-old woman from George was allegedly overpowered by sever unknown suspects dressed in SAPS uniforms at Hoogekraal on Saturday, 22 September.
The victim alleges that four men, who she believe was policemen had detained her during the night, raped her after 19:00. She was on her way from Glentana.
The suspects apparently rode in a vehicle with police signs and blue lights when they pulled her over.
George police’s communications officer, Sergeant. Michael Opperman, confirmed that the case was reported to the George police.
He said the victim told the police that the suspects all wore balaclavas and were dressed in police uniforms. They apparently overpowered and blindfolded her and tied in her car. She was robbed of bank cards and cashed. Afterwards she has been repeatedly raped.
“The victim suspects she was also intoxicated. According to her, she was alone in her car when she arrived. A case of rape was being investigated,” said Opperman.
The case has since been transferred to the police on Great Brak River for further investigation.
