A SABC spokesman apparently said a “technical problem” had been experienced at the bank, but experts believe the technical problem was probably the fact that the SABC did not have the funds to make payments.
A staff member apparently later said it was now getting a calculated risk of working for the SABC.
After urgent discussions, the salaries were apparently paid into staff accounts yesterday, with the excuse that the bank’s error was found.
