Mashiane, Moodley and Monana, a law firm in South-Africa sent SARS a hefty bill of R795,000 for services rendered.
It was believed to be legal advice to SARS’s human resources head, Luther Lebelo, which was delivered by David Maphakela.
During the hearing Monday, Maphakela refused to deliver oral witnesses despite Judge Nugent’s assignment. Nugent warned Maphakela that he might be prosecuted because of his refusal.
Unconfirmed reports are doing the round that the hefty account has been made to ultimately also make gain certain favours, but The Vryburger could not get confirmation on this.
