Police are investigating a case of armed robbery following the robbery of an on-duty security guard at Amalinda Post office, East London, on Wednesday afternoon.
“It is alleged that a male in his mid-20s entered the facility and joined the queu pretending to be a customer then turned around and pointed the security guard with a pistol and demanded his rifle and the guard obliged, suspect fled on foot,” described police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi.
Suspect managed to evade arrest
“Members of K9 unit immediately searched the surounding and spotted a fleeing suspect who threw the pistol on the ground and disappeared in the bushes.”
