White South Africans feel they have the right to live, thrive and leave an inheritance for their children’s children.
Adriaan Nieuwoudt, a businessman and land-owner is trying to establish a whites-only settlement near Garies, in the Kamiesberg Municipality of the Northern Cape. On the vast stretch of land he owns, Nieuwoudt has vowed to build a racially-exclusive community that gives each member who signs up their own 1 000-metre plot of land.
Fuelled by fears of farm murders and land expropriation, Nieuwoudt is looking to create his own version of Orania – the other “whites-only” town in South Africa that has isolated itself from the rest of society. He says this conurbation will be named “Eureka”.
In comments attributed to the Diamond Fields Advertiser, the unpredictable figure explained why he feels the need to segregate white members of society from the rest of South Africa. It’s nothing we haven’t heard before:
“Eureka is a serious attempt to re-establish our white people in safety. Here we empower the entire white race to independently build a future for yourself, with our own means, in our own fatherland.”
“We have already waited too long. No one may prevent us from going forward. In this way, we can again let the white race, without bloodshed, acquire a piece of their birth land.”
The leadership of Eureka deems to believe that due to the radical empowerment applied by the government, BEE, affirmative action and general negative statements by political leaders against the Whites the following is trending in South-Africa:
• White breadwinners forced out of South Africa’s economy.
• Explosive conditions that will exacerbate racial tension.
• The lives of whites, the survival of their language and culture are seriously threatened.
The only resolution to this problem:
Whites own their own sovereign territory where they can maintain themselves by paying for their own services without assistance and interference from any other institution and can be totally self-sufficient in the country of their birth.
As we cannot live forever in fear of our own lives, those of our loved ones and our possessions, we have endeavored to now enforce our fundamental right to freedom in the country of our birth.
Do not divide the land but use the rights jointly with shared land ownership and private right on each member’s residence.
In this way, we can best defend our sovereign law if any person or institution wishes to dispute it.
Leadership of Eureka want to make it clear that by means of a sovereign territory, they do not mean a division of the Republic of South Africa but only our own territory where whites can independently protect their distinctive language, culture and their lives. “We have no desire to harm any rights of other citizens.”
Eureka condemned by local authorities
However, these plans have caught the attention of the local government in the Northern Cape. We spoke to Rufus Beukes, the municipal manager of Kamiesberg. He was far from happy with Nieuwoudt’s attempts to start a racially-segregated town, and poured scorn on the proposed development:
“The land they are talking about is agricultural land. There has been no application to the council for the build and if it goes ahead, it will be done illegally. They will be flouting building regulations and won’t get planning permission.”
“Our municipality 100% condemns these plans. We all live in a democratic society where this sort of thing should not exist. This is not something we support at all.”
Eureka is described as a “security town” where people can “securely retire, live and work with their own schools, shops and medical services in their own mother language (Afrikaans) and rural culture”.
According to Nieuwoudt, he bought the piece of land (now known as Eureka) “with his own money, during 2016”. He promised on Tuesday to donate a 1 000 square metre plot in Eureka to “each member of the uprooted white race who registered with the Eureka movement”.
“This plot will stay reserved in your name till the end of days. Whether you use it or not, it remains your own place in the land of your birth and is transferable to your heirs. When you start building on the plot, you have to carry building costs, but until then we cost each other nothing,” a statement by Nieuwoudt reads.
“Eureka is a serious attempt to re-establish our white people in safety. Here we empower the entire white race to independently, for yourself, with our own means, in our own fatherland, build a future. We have already waited too long. No one may prevent us from doing so. In this way we can again let the white race, without bloodshed, acquire a piece of their birth land.”
Nieuwoudt further explains that Eureka uses reverse osmosis pumps to desalinate groundwater, and eventually seawater.
“This will make a free settlement flourish here,” Nieuwoudt says.
He said that the “movement” had registered 5 000 members by Tuesday.
