The EFF leader says the party will provide free education, land and better jobs to all South Africans. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) made a strong last push to get votes ahead of Wednesday’s election as thousands of supporters filled up Orlando Stadium in Soweto yesterday.
The supporters came to listen to commander-in-chief Julius Malema, who delivered the party’s final election message.
Malema, who lost his grandmother Sarah on Saturday in Seshego, Limpopo, said the victory was certain and people should go out and vote for the EFF if they wanted real change.
“I want to say to those who are not going to vote because they don’t see how the vote will help them: you are committing suicide because you are giving ANC power. The best thing to do is to vote.”
Malema said his party was fighting for equality for South Africans, including white people, and encouraged young white citizens to join the party.
“We are not fighting against white people, we are fighting against white privilege, we are fighting against white arrogance,” he said.
“We are not fighting for black people to oppress white people, we are fighting for equality. We want economic freedom even for white people. We have a problem with older white people who do not want equality.”
He said under an EFF-led government, they would professionalize the civil service and pay teachers, police and other civil servants better salaries.
“We must restore the dignity of the teaching profession,” said Malema. “We must restore the dignity of police officers.”
He added that under the EFF government, women would own over 50% of the land because they were in the majority.
“Women are going to be in charge.”
Malema said the EFF would provide free education, land and better jobs to all South Africans.
