In the midst of multiple problems at Eskom as a power supplier, the entity will stand firm, Minister Pravin Gordhan South Africa assures.
This comes after an outspoken economist said the power provider was on the verge of overall collapse due to its financial condition.
Experts say the minister’s insurance is a logical consequence if it is taken into account that government has appropriated billion Rand of taxpayers’ money to save the bankruptcy Eskom from collapse.
The government announced last week that R56bn would be made available to Eskom over the next three years, and immediately paid R17bn to the power supply provider to meet its most pressing commitments.
