Former president FW De Klerk: Rights of minorities have material implications for the continued viability of the ” vast majority “

“The constitutional court’s recent pronouncements on the constitutional rights of minorities have material implications for the sustainability of the” vast majority “on which our constitution is based,” writes former president. FW De Klerk in tomorrow’s edition of Weekly.

He said minorities were particularly dependent on the impartiality of the courts to maintain their constitutional rights. “What hope do they have regarding rights if the courts consistently agree with the majority’s ideological approach on issues that are at the heart of their survival as cultural and linguistic communities?”
