Police in the Eastern Cape launched a big search after four armed men robbed the Kareedouw police station on Saturday morning at 01:30.
Capt. Police spokesperson Gerda Swart said the men entered the police station and attacked the constable on duty. “The suspects removed firearms from the safe and a police handheld,” she said. “The constable made an alarm after the robbers fled in an unknown vehicle.”
Swart said all involved role players were immediately deployed. “A major search for the suspects continues. A case of armed robbery is being investigated. ”
Lieutenant General. Liziwe Ntshinga, provincial police commissioner, strongly condemned the attack. “We will turn on these robbers and not rest until they are all arrested. A task team of experienced detectives, including the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations (the Hawks), has been appointed to attend these thieves. ”

Maroela Media confidently detected that two R5 guns and three 9mm pistols have been stolen from the vault. However, Swart did not want to confirm this because the information was operationally sensitive.
