The North West Police confirmed that a farmer and leading cattle breeder and his wife were attacked in their house on the farm Kareeboom in the Reivilo district during the early hours of this morning. Christo Bosman and his wife, Lizel, was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to the Kimberley Hospital.
Christo was stabbed with a knife and according to Afriforum’s Security Group in North West, he has not been seriously injured. Die condition of his wife is not known at this stage.
Police Spokesperson, Adele Myburgh, said the couple was asleep when they were overpowered. According to her, seven and eight thugs, who wore balaclavas, are wanted in respect of the incident.
The farmer’s Ford bakkie and an undisclosed number of weapons were stolen.
The stolen bakkie was later abandoned approximately 20km before Kuruman in the Northern Cape.
Police Officers are still on the scene and at this stage, it seems that the attackers did not force access to the house.
According to Myburgh, the victims, after the thugs fled with farmers Ford bakkie, contacted their neighbours for assistance.
A case of house robbery????? is being investigated.
Meanwhile, a member of the well-known Cattle Breeders Association that this farmer is a member of, said the incident occurred at approximately 02:00, but the Association would like to obtain more information before commenting officially.
Police investigation continues.
