MOSIUOA LEKOTA from COPE addressed farmers in the Brits area: “There is enough state land that can be divided without the expropriation of commercial private land.”
“Do not upset yourselves by the rantings of the youngsters running around in red overalls shouting they want their land back.”
“Farmers bought their land. Land expropriation will lead to white/black and black/black violence”.
Mr. Lekota will also within the next week or two address farmers of Mpumalanga, North West and Limpopo.
Cope is currently the only party that is talking to farmers at ground level before the parliamentary debate on land expropriation takes place in August.
