Roy Moodley’s pet cop in KZN, Col Reuben Govender, has just been removed from the case against me.
He has demanded that journalist and author Pieter-Louis Myburgh and I report to him tomorrow in Durban.
He has refused to say what the case is about, who the complainant is and whether he has a warrant for our arrests.
We know however that the complainant is Roy Moodley, Zuma’s close friend and the man who paid him a salary while he was president.
Govender tried three weeks ago to get a warrant for my arrest in Pietermaritzburg. He failed to do so.
He has since contacted my attorney, Willem de Klerk, and has demanded my presence at the Durban North Police Station. He also wanted to see Pieter-Louis.
We received a letter from Govender just today in which he once again threatened us for being “evasive” and said he could have arrested us a week ago if he wanted to. He even threatened to bring charges of defeating the end of justice against Willem de Klerk.
Govender is a notorious cop and we have over the past two days found various cases where he has performed Moodley’s dirty work for him. He has been slammed in court judgments and is facing several lawsuits. He is notorious for arresting people without warrants and for bringing trumped-up charges against them.
We were preparing to bring an urgent application in the Durban High Court tonight to prevent Govender from arresting us.
Before we could do that, Attorney Willem de Klerk received a phone call from a senior Kwa-Zulu Natal police official that Govender has been removed from the case. The case has also been taken away from the Durban-North Police Station.
Brigadier AW Holby, Head of Detective Services in Kwa-Zulu Natal, is now personally in charge of whatever investigation there is against me and Pieter-Louis.
We don’t have to report to anybody any longer and there are no threats of arrest.
This is a great relief. Thank you for all of you who supported us.
