Mark Minnie, former policeman and author of the controversial book :” The lost boys of Bird Island” is dead.
Media 24 and other news sources report that Minnie’s body was found near Port Elizabeth early Monday morning. “No foul play is suspected and an inquest was opened.”
Minnie’s book caused an uproar when it was released two weeks ago claiming that at least 3 former National party ministers, amongst them former defense minister, genl Magnus Malan, was guilty of sexually abusing coloured boys over an extended period of time on Bird Island near Port Elizabeth. It has been claimed that the case was covered up by the PW Botha government.
Minnie was on holiday in South Africa. He was an English teacher in China when the book, exposing an alleged peadophile ring involving influential politicians and businessmen, took the country by storm.
