The National Energy Regulator, Nersa’s public sessions on Eskom’s proposed tariff increase, are currently underway.
Eskom asks for an excessive increase of thirty percent to recover a R66 billion shortfall. Despite the shortages, Eskom continues to give excessive bonuses to its senior staff.
Numerous corporations have already indicated that they will oppose that request.
Just like last year and years before when the increases are discussed, Eskom suddenly announces that load shedding is a possibility.
Observers see it as blatant extortion so that he can get their way of boosting tariffs.
