ANC President Ramaphosa initially indicated that he would not oppose the application of the opposition to force him to sack Bathabile Dlamini. However, shortly before the announcement of the cabinet shuffle he announced that he would oppose the application.
Political experts say that the command came from the ANC’s inner circles. Dlamini has been single out for punishment by Judge Froneman about her deception in court and instructed that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) should investigate whether or not she has committed a perjury.
Even the ANC’s mate Cosatu is unhappy with the fact that Dlamini and Mokonyane did not get booted out.
Two members of the ANC executive committee apparently said there would be flames if Dlamini was sacked.
Observers believe the president has stunned or used the deception technique and probably never intended to end the controversial minister.
