Another son of ANC leader, Jacob Zuma, is in trouble with hate speech.
In an open letter, Edward Zuma, called the former finance minister, Pravin Gordhan, a puppet of white monopoly capital. He also called the former minister of tourism, Derek Hanekom, an Afrikaner mercenary.
The FF Plus has set an ultimatum, until Friday, August 4, for the HRC to act against Edward Zuma and take him to the Equality Court. If this does not happen, the FF Plus will report the HRC to the Public Protector (PP) for the mismanagement of funds by selectively investigating matters and thereby misusing tax money.
Even the ANC in Natal has given Edward until today to withdraw his comments and apologize.
However, it appears that the HRC does not want to comply with the FF Plus’s claim. The HRC had earlier asked him to withdraw his statement. They threatened to act against him if he did not respond to the request. This means that if he offers an apology, he will probably get away with it.
The FF Plus, in turn, does not want the HRC to ignore the request and threatened to file a complaint against the HRC at the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in accordance with the Paris Principles supported by South Africa which directs the functions of the South African Human Rights Commission.
Adv. Anton Alberts, chairman of the FF Plus, said it is now clear that the international principles are violated that require protecting all human rights and should be promoted.
“There is no doubt that Edward Zuma’s statements are hate speech and, by failing to prosecute him, the HRC is letting down the people of South Africa. It can no longer be tolerated.”
“The shocking racial statements of Edward Zuma, President Jacob Zuma’s son, and the HRCs equally shocking decision to allow him to apologize for that can only mean that the HRC itself acts selectively on the race-based way to incidents of racism,” said Adv. Alberts.
