Time’s up: Deadline day for Zuma to avoid spy tapes charges

President Jacob Zuma will have to make representations to public prosecutions head Shaun Abrahams today to argue why he should not face 783 counts of fraud, racketeering and money laundering.

Zuma’s “African Way”: “Corruption is at times exaggerated”

Speaking to the News24 following a meeting at the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Zuma said they have adopted a resolution that will see African leaders tackle corruption in all forms.

“There is very big noise about corruption in Africa and indeed we have acknowledged that yes there is, although at times it is quite exaggerated. And we couldn’t just wait, the fact that we have reached a point where we say it’s a problem that we should collectively tackle together, I think it’s a step forward that says we are worried that if corruption is not tackled, the very scarce resources that we have are abused in one form or the other,” said Zuma.

Madibeng Mayor plans extravagant R1 million trip to Malaysia

The Madibeng Mayor, Jostina Mothibe and the Acting Municipal Manager, Morris Maluleka are allegedly in the process of packing their bags for an overseas trip to Malaysia from 7 to 13 February at a cost of R529 595 per person to attend a World Urban Forum.

“The Democratic Alliance has written to the Madibeng(Brits) Mayor, Jostina Mothibe, urging her to reconsider a R1 million overseas trip. We have also referred this matter to the DA Shadow Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Kevin Mileham MP to intervene on a national level to stop this trip,” says, Jan C Van Rhyn, DA Councillor Madibeng.
