Two police members receive R11,5 million to sit at home and do nothing

It cost the taxpayers about R11,5 million rand to suspend two police members and keep them home without having to lift a single finger.

This is the total amount currently fired commissioner Riah Phiyega, and the head of crime intelligence, Richard Mdluli received while staying at home. However, the cherry on the cake was that Mdluli also received a “service bonus” of R413 957.

Police minister, Fikile Mbalula, left the cat out of the bag after being asked in parliament about it.

Phiyega’s contract has lapsed, but apparently Mdluli is still facing disciplinary proceedings, and he has been suspended from 2011 and stays at home while receiving salary and the state is still paying his pension fund contributions.
