News24.com, arguably one of the top news resources in South Africa, failed to even cover the horrendous murder of the 86 year old grandmother Johanna Rossouw, who was found brutally murdered in the Edenpark Retirement Village in Witbank, Mpumalanga, on Sunday 31 January 2021. The mother of 4 was found dead in her home in Fuchsia street, with multiple stab wounds in her back and neck. It is clear this defenseless frail old woman was also tortured before she was violently murdered. Her hands were tied behind her back. While Vodacom has cancelled its contract with PRASA for the provision of cellphones, which train drivers used to communicate with control rooms, it has also been revealed that ANC took R9 Billion from PRASA to pay for SANRAL e-tolls, according to Steve Harris from UNTU, which is a union within Prasa. Train drivers use these cellphones to get the verbal go-ahead to use routes to prevent accidents, because they can’t use the radio base system because that is not working either!

The South African Medical Association (Sama), and its Eastern Cape branch, has condemned the lack of proper security at public hospitals in the province after a doctor was assaulted by a patient.
Dr Archie Solombela sustained a fracture to his right arm and a general worker was also hurt during the attack by a psyciatric patient at the Cecilia Makiwane Hospital in East London. According to a report in the Daily Dispatch, suspected mentally ill patients are being admitted to general wards for observation, and because resources are so thinly stretched at government hospitals in the province this takes much longer than the standard 72 hours.

Pretoria – Hundreds of “unhappy” security guards took to the streets of the capital to march against exploitation, poor working conditions and unlawful deductions from salaries on Tuesday morning.
