A 43-year-old man from Brandwacht in Stellenbosch in the Western Cape was attacked and stabbed with a knife on Tuesday morning. His 14-year-old son was also attacked during the burglary.
Sergeant Noyliso Rwexana, Police Spokesperson, said the incident took place at approximately 3:00 AM.
Rwexana said the family was asleep when two thugs, who were apparently both armed with knives, had forced access to the house. “The man and woman slept when the thugs attacked the man with a knife,” Rwexana said.
According to reports, the man’s 14-year-old son got involved when a fight ensued between the family and the thugs.
Rwexana said the boy sustained stab wounds and was taken to a hospital. The man died at the scene.
According to her, the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated and no-one has as yet been arrested.
The police could not immediately confirm whether the woman was also injured in the incident. It is also not clear whether anything was stolen during the incident.
The name of the deceased is withheld until all of his close relatives have been notified of his death.
