CAPE TOWN – Fridges and freezers are reserved for storing your special treats ensuring they don’t spoil but one suspected criminal thought it was the perfect hiding spot.

The 29-year-old man was on the run for more than a year after allegedly committing an armed robbery in Vredenburg.

His luck ran out on Tuesday when Vredenburg detectives conducted a tracing operation in Louwville.

The police’s Frederick van Wyk explains the occupant of the house told officers the suspect was not there.

“[Police] who were in possession of a warrant of arrest entered the house and started with their search and that is when they opened the fridge door and found the armed robber hiding in the fridge. The 29-year-old suspect was sought for an armed robbery case that occurred in February 2016.”
