A 60-year-old man was left fighting for his life, after he was stabbed at his home in Uvongo, on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Netcare 911’s Nick Dollman said paramedics were called to assist just after 5.30am.
“Reports from the scene allege that the 60-year-old man was in his driveway when he was attacked and stabbed multiple times during an apparent robbery attempt,” Dollman said. “The victim had sustained very serious injuries, with stab wounds to different areas of his upper body”.
Dollman said the man was stabilised at the scene, before being transported to hospital for further medical.
Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele said the man was on his way to the beach, when he was attacked.
“He was about to go fishing when he was allegedly attacked by two unknown males … He was taken to hospital in a critical condition,” she said.
Mbhele said a case of attempted murder was opened at Margate police station for investigation.
“No arrest has been made at this stage,” she said.
